An experienced consultant in facilitation, instructional design, releasing and software development. With 15 years of training and design experience, she has used ADDIE and SAM models to design, implement, and deliver training solutions for the situation and audience. As Past President of the Association for Talent Development (ATD) Charlotte Chapter, she led the board and chapter to 3 Share our Success Awards and a Chapter of the Month award. She served as Chair of the Training Committee for Junior League of Charlotte. During my tenure I created the learning curriculum for over 300 volunteers. The League still uses this framework today. A graduate of the William States Lee College of Engineering with a degree in Computer Science, she was honored to Chair the Engineering Student and Alumni Engagement committee. My goal is to move learners to a higher cognitive level by creating engaging and meaningful performance support solutions.

Tom Rector
Tom began his 40+year Lance career as a Sales Representative in the Tidewater area of VA, moving to a Sales Management role in Northern Virginia in 1977. He was tabbed to become Lance’s initial Sales Training Director in December, 1978. His focus was to help develop sales and leadership skills will implementing a new, innovative A/V delivery system.
In July, 1986, Tom was promoted to District Sales Manager in Nashville, TN, with leadership responsibilities for over 15 managers and 140+ Sales Representatives from St. Louis to almost Atlanta. He was 7 months into his ASTD Presidency.
Tom returned to Charlotte HQ in 1997 to head up a newly revamped sales T & D department as part of the HR Dept. Over the years that role grew to the corporate Director of Training and Employee Development (later Talent Management!).
Tom joined the Charlotte Chapter in 1979. His first chapter role was later that year when he took over the critical role of ensuring we had liquid refreshments (yes, beer and wine!) for every meeting. He filled several roles over the next several years, culminating in the 1986 Presidency.
As President Elect in 1985, Tom was charged with leading the Chapter on a quest to earn its initial National Chapter Leadership Award. Through a focused chapter team effort, we achieved the goal! It was a significant step for our local chapter as well as tremendous national recognition.
Later that year President Elect Trish Flannagan (who replaced me in July, ’86) and I were invited to the National Leadership Conference to present one of the concurrent sessions titled something like “Leading your Chapter to Earn a National Chapter Leadership Award.”
Among other roles, Tom was a DDI facilitator as well as earning DDI’s Train the Trainer facilitator certification.
Tom is currently comfortably retired but has assisted the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections over the past 9 years during the various election cycles. You’ll find him programing and certifying equipment, running one of the Early Voting sites, “managing” 9 Election sites on Election Day, or filling in as needed. He and Cassandra have been married almost 52 years with 3 adult children. We get in some traveling, primarily checking in on our 6 out-of-town grand kids or escaping to our small cottage in Colonial Beach, VA. There is also some golf played 3 or 4 times a month. No skill, just staying active while hoping not to lose too many balls or hurt someone!

Join ATD Charlotte for our monthly chapter meeting. Meet other talent development professionals in the Charlotte area, discover job opportunities and - if you're recruiting - connect with job seekers, hear about the latest chapter news, and participate in a fantastic program.
