**********Special Request for all Participants***********

Hello, ATD Charlotte members and friends,

I could use your help, please. I'm preparing for the April monthly program and workshop on The Energy of Belonging. I’ll be talking about how feeling cared for, respected by, and connected to our colleagues and facilitators helps to create a sense of belonging. I’m looking for examples of small (or big) acts you, your colleagues, or your leaders have done to make you feel welcome, included, and respected.

Please take 3-4 minutes before Monday, April 15, 2024, to share your thoughts by responding to this anonymous survey.

Belonging at Work Survey – ATD Charlotte – April 2024

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Wendy Gates Corbett

**********Special Request for all Participants***********

Topic Overview:

We think belonging is this big, heady concept that requires an expensive, organization-wide transformation initiative. Not so! Every single one of us can spark belonging right now wherever we sit in an organization because the energy of belonging is fueled or drained one human interaction at a time. Too many programs focus on the “what” and “why” of belonging, falling short of the “how”. This program is ALL about the “how”. It’s based on Wendy’s research and shares 9 practical hows - ideas that we can use to connect with, respect, and protect the people we work with to spark belonging in our training design, program delivery, project meetings, and everyday conversations. The program defines the three belonging building blocks and the behaviors that contribute to them:

  • a sense of connection to their colleagues and their work

  • feeling respected by their peers and leaders

  • feeling their humanity is protected.

Wendy’s attraction to the power of belonging at work emerged from her own experience. She’s been part of global virtual teams that she felt very much a part of, but she also felt the despair that comes from feeling invisible and ignored by colleagues. No one should feel invisible at work (or anywhere!). This program promises to equip us with a toolkit of simple, practical ideas we can use to make sure no one does.

Participants will be able to:

  1. Practice using the ideas at work to foster a stronger sense of connection to others and your work

  2. Experiment with simple strategies to demonstrate your respect for others and expecting respect from others

  3. Develop strategies for fostering psychological safety in your own work community and/or training rooms

Join Wendy at this interactive, fun, active session where participants will eagerly share their own experiences and contribute to everyone’s learning.
