Working Effectively in Diverse Cultures

  • 15 Jan 2009
  • 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Newell/Rubbermaid
Speaker: Juanita Coston

Topic:

With a new team in the White House, recession reports and continual talk of doing more with less, Juanita Coston kicks off 2009 by challenging us on how to work effectively in diverse cultures. Join us as we consider the makeup of our chapter, our community and how we can leverage those to benefit our companies, clients and customers. Diversity is not just about gender and race it is about diversity of thought.

What you want to do is create an environment that is welcoming to top performers and where people know what it takes to succeed. Members will have an opportunity for interactive cultural conversations which will encourage 'team understanding.'

Juanita will address diversity by showing organizations how not to lose sight of their business goals.

What makes an effective diverse culture:

  • Addressing employee emotional needs
  • People want fair and equitable treatment
  • A safe environment
  • To be appreciated
  • An opportunity for meaningful face time
  • Someone to go to if they have problems
  • Challenging projects with attainable goals
